However, after losing a lot of time trying figure out how I could remove the infection manually, I decided to bite the bullet and purchase another software program to remove the malware. I decided to purchase a program called Malwarebytes because it was highly recommended on a tech forum I frequently visit.

Malwarebytes quickly zapped the Ant-Virus infection and a whole bunch of other nasty infections that I didn’t even know about. However, after  the Malwarebytes removal process was complete my system was still infected by search engine hijack virus. To remove it I needed to download and execute a free utility offered by Kaspersky  called TDSS killer.

This ordeal made me realize that no single anti-virus program can remove all viruses.
